Hi, I'm the trainer at Sparks Leads

I've been working with dogs and their owners across Southend-on-Sea and Essex for years, helping families build a relationship with their dog that's based on mutual respect and clear communication.

My journey into dog training started with my own dog — a rescue with a complicated past and a lot of anxiety. Working through those challenges taught me more than any textbook could. It showed me that every dog has a story, and that patience and consistency make all the difference. That also lead to regular visits to a council shelter in Spain where I get actively involved helping them adjust to their new life in a shelter whilst  giving them the basics in training to increase their chances of finding their new forever home.

Today I work with dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds — from excitable puppies to adult dogs who've developed difficult behaviours over time. Whatever your situation, I'll meet you where you are.

My training philosophy

I believe dogs behave the way they do for a reason. Before we can change a behaviour, we need to understand it.

  • 01

    Force-free, always

No choke chains, no punishment, no intimidation. Dogs learn best when they feel safe and motivated — not when they're afraid.

  • 02

    Science-based methods

Everything I do is grounded in the latest research on animal learning and behaviour. What works in the lab, I make practical in your living room.

  • 03

    Owner education first

You could  spend up to 24 hours a day with your dog. My job is to give you the knowledge and confidence to keep making progress long after our sessions end.

  • 04

    Every dog is an individual

There's no one-size-fits-all programme here. I tailor every session to your dog's personality, history, and your specific goals.

All breeds, all ages, all backgrounds

Whether you have a Border Collie who can't switch off, a Staffie who pulls like a freight train, or a nervous rescue who's never felt safe — I've worked with dogs like yours before. No breed is too challenging, no problem too ingrained.
